Pronounced "Ah-DEENK-rah", the cloth inspiring this design originally was created by the Asante craftspeople. Visually stunning patterns were created on plain, though often strip woven cloth, with stamps dipped in a brown, gluey dye. The different symbolic motifs are repeated over areas similar in size and are reflective of meanings such as bravery, perseverance, uprightness, completeness and perfection. We find this unisex pullover featuring hemmed bands to be a most striking version of the Adinkra cloth.
