Sock-a-Rama
Tuesday, September 29th, 2009

We received new shipments of hand-dyed sock yarns from Tempted and Two Windows Dye Co. Those of you who live afar will be excited because both are now available online!
luxhat.jpgTempted’s new Luxe Grrl is here! Stacy made the hat on the cover of the fall issue of Vogue Knitting with this luxurious cashmere/merino blend and it is gorgeous.

We also received more Good Grrl, including the House Divided colorway.

If you have anxiously been awaiting the arrival of more Glam Grrl, I’m happy to announce the long wait is over. We’ll see the backorders any day now, and a fresh batch will be here with the trunk show next month.

Looking for a special color, or enough for a larger project? Just let us know. Stacy is always happy to accommodate special orders, and we usually see them pretty quickly!

knittybits.jpgWe also are crazy about the hand-dyed yarns from Two Windows Dye Co. Their Knitty Bits sock yarns are one-of-a-kind creations, and we have fallen in love with her colors.

We now stock this yarn at both SWAK locations!wendy.jpgwendybook.jpg

Wendy D. Johnson (aka WendyKnits), superstar of toe-up sock knitting will be at SWAK in the City October 23-24. We’ll have workshops, a big party and trunk show from Tempted Yarns. Don’t miss out on this fun opportunity to meet and learn from the best of the best in sock knitting.

It’s not too late to join in the fun - give us a call or sign up online today!

Help, hookers and a really fun time….
Thursday, September 10th, 2009

ambulance1.jpgWe are happy to announce that we have added a help night at SWAK in the City. Up until now, the only time we’ve had set aside for project help was on Thursday mornings. We realize that these hours may not be convenient to those of you who work. Our weekend class schedule stays so packed that we just couldn’t offer that as an option.

Effective September 1, Project Help is available at SWAK in the City from 5-8 every Wednesday night. Many of you are already familiar with Kary who regularly pulls the late shift on Wednesdays. She’ll be on hand to help you out along with Catherine the New (we have 2 Catherines so it gets a bit confusing). Catherine is amazingly patient and is a great addition to our team. There is no charge for assistance, however projects must use yarn purchased at SWAK. SWAK in the City will also start closing at 8pm on Wednesdays.

10351.jpgWe received something pretty cool for you hookers out there - Denise Interchangeable Crochet Sets. Hook sizes F through P are included in the kit, with cables and instructions for tunisian crochet. Even if you’re not into tunisian crochet, I think these sets are pretty handy. I’m going to use the hooks with the short cable attached, and use the other cables as extras for my Denise Needles. The sets are $39.95, and are in stock at both SWAK locations.

Don’t forget - Wendy D. Johnson the queen of toe-up socks will be at SWAK in the City on October 23-24. It’s not too late to sign up! We’ll have workshops, a fabulous Tempted trunk show, and a big party too. A good time will be had by all!
