The 89′er Day celebration is just around the corner! If you’re not from Oklahoma (and really if you’re not from Guthrie) you may be wondering this is and why we’d be so excited. It’s the annual celebration of the Oklahoma Land Run, and for Guthrie folk it is almost like Christmas in that relatives and friends from near & far come home for this event.

The festivities include a chuck wagon feed, an old-timey 89′er baseball game, and the highlight of the week is the HUGE parade. See the drug store in the pic below? That’s us! That’s what our Guthrie location looked like way back when.

We’re looking forward to taking Mason to the carnival again this year. Last year he really liked the carousel…until it started moving. We thought that ride would never end! This year we think he will thoroughly enjoy it.

Come to Guthrie the week of April 21-25. The carnival starts that Wednesday, and you’ll have a front row seat for the parade that Saturday @ SWAK.

We’re making some improvements to our Smooches! customer rewards program. Many of you frequent buyers were recently invited to come by and give our new prize wheel a spin. We thought it was so much fun, that we wanted to expand the program so more can join in. Rather than cumulate points quarterly, we have decided to keep a running total of the points so even if you’re not a big spender you will be able to cash in on the rewards too. Periodically our register will invite you to spin the wheel when checking out. You never know when it’s going to be your lucky day!
