Loop-d-Loop
SWAK is proud to introduce designer Teva Durham’s new yarn line - Loop-d-Loop. This is one of the most exciting designer lines we’ve seen yet. The yarns are wonderful, the price is affordable, and the designs are fresh. The line includes 3 yarns . . .Moss-a basic merino with an unplied quality for an organic, homespun look. This yarn reminds me of Classic Elite’s Waterspun; Fern, an unusual lace ribbon that knits up like a spongy boucle; and Shale, a mohair blend with a matte/shiny aspect.
The line includes several stylish sweaters . . .
unusual accessories. . .
and several intriquing designs.
We love the way this garment made of connected “pieces” morphs into so many possibilities. I have seen this concept attempted on detachable sleeves and such, but never have I seen it executed so that it actually works as well as with this design.
This cute little shrug is actually two sleeves connected across the back and tied in the front for a capelet effect. Really simple, and takes only 2-4 skeins of Moss to make.
The Baguette Scarf is an adaptation of Teva’s signature chain link scarf that was on the cover of her Loop-d-Loop book, with a twist. You insert your arms through the loops and can also wear this scarf as a shrug. Knit in Teva’s shimmery mohair Shale - requires only 5 skeins to make.
Fall 2007 it must be the season for assymetrical skirts - I think this one is particularly attractive. All of these designs, including the cute cape on the cover, can be found in Teva’s Loop-d-Loop, Volume 1.
Mom wanted me to give a shout out to everyone, with a little tip for the computer challenged. I sometimes assume that everyone knows all of the web tricks. So if you are like mom, complaining right now that the pictures are too darn small - well click on them. Tah-dah! Big pictures. That’s the tip of the day from mom.
And now a tip from all of us. As you know, our other hobby is eating. We have a new, very nice, very chic restaurant in town that we recommend to everyone called Cafe Brian. It’s at the Santa Fe Depot, where Arties (the soup nazi) used to be. They have a great lunch menu, served Tuesday-Sunday, and dinner too. I think they only serve dinner on Wednesday-Sunday…it’s on my list of places to eat dinner soon. We have been hurting for a good place to eat lunch that is open most of the week, so this is great news we wanted to share.Cancel on this recommendation! Unless you want to wait 1 1/2 hours for a sandwich, then get told where to go if they don’t make it like you ordered, then you will want to pass on this place!
The class schedule IS coming soon, I promise. Our headmistress and chief knitter has been a bit bogged down by a small boy named Mason. He is in his wiggly phase, which interferes with mom’s knitting and my computer work. So if you can hop up and down and look like a Baby Einsten puppet, we may have a job for you. In the interim, I have added the dates for our recurring classes through December. This way you can go ahead and make plans and sign up for these now. There will be new knit & crochet sweater projects for Sweater Girls - stay tuned. The project classes will also be posted soon, well as soon as Mr. Wiggles will let us.
