Beth Brown-Reinsel
Beth Brown-Reinsel has been involved in many facets of the fiber arts as a spinner, basket weaver, dyer, knitter, former yarn shop owner, author, and knitwear designer, but teaching is her passion. She has worked in production as well as in creating and teaching courses and workshops both locally and nationally. She developed and implemented the correspondence course Traditional Ganseys for The Knitting Guild of America for 11 years, as well as owning Knitting Traditions, a mail order business of imported traditional yarns, for seven years. Beth has authored the book Knitting Ganseys, published by Interweave Press. Her articles and designs have been featured in magazines such as Knitters, Interweave Knits, Vogue Knitting, Threads, Cast-On and Shuttle, Spindle and Dyepot. Beth lives in Forest Hill, Maryland.

Textured Twined Knitted Socks (B1)
Learn the Swedish technique of Tvåänstickning, or twined knitting, by knitting a small sock. Twined knitting is worked with 2 yarns of the same color, twined around each other, and creates a warmer, denser fabric than conventional stranded knitting. The socks are worked circularly on double point needles and includes many techniques: three twined knitting cast-ons, the “O” stitch, Chain Path, and working an unusual method for an afterthought heel. Swedish Cast-Ons and Knitting Technique (B2)
Five cast-ons from Sweden will be taught in this hands-on class. They are all one-needled cast-on methods, and can be adapted for one or two color edges for sweaters, mittens, socks, and hats. In addition, the Continental method of knitting, purling, and weaving will be taught as well as the Scandinavian technique of working with two yarns in the left hand. Sunday morning

Nancie Wiseman
Nancie, once a Registered Nurse, opened her yarn shop, Nancie Knits in 1987 in Sacramento, California. The store has closed, but Nancie continues to teach, design and write knitting patterns and books. After winning an international design competition in 1992, Nancie not only designs but writes patterns for several yarn companies as well as writing articles and knitting designs for all of the major knitting magazines. Nancie was the consultant for an article in Martha Stewart Living titled Knitting 101. To date, she has written 9 books on knitting and crochet as well as 7 videos and DVD’s about knitting. She has recently been on the DIY network doing 3 jewelry shows and the Knitty Gritty show. Nancie lives in Coupeville, Washington on Whidbey Island.

Interlocking Diamonds (N1)
This interesting technique is similar to Entrelac, but produces diamonds instead of squares. It’s a great way to use up small bits and pieces of yarn for a very dynamic look. In this class, students will do a sample utilizing all of the possible combinations of diamonds and half diamonds. How to design with the diamonds, shaping necks, and armholes will also be covered. Knitting on the Diagonal (N2)
Diagonal knitting is a great way to show off some of the great hand dyed yarns that knit into stripes, or yarns that change colors frequently. It also works great for making stripes in different colors. Worked in garter stitch it requires unusual shaping, totally different than a normal sweater. Learn how to shape a cardigan while you knit a sample. Sunday morning

Valentina Devine
Valentina has always knitted! Born in Moscow, Russia and growing up in Berlin, Germany she had to use most unusual materials during the war years, from the cotton strings of a mop to cut up nylon stockings. To this day Valentina enjoys knitting with any kind of material she can get on her knitting needle. Her signature style of free form and abstract shapes and color combinations earned her a spot as a life-time member of the Torpedo Factory Art Center in Alexandria, VA. Valentina enjoys designing for different publications, has been a contributor to many knitting books, has shown her art-to-wear garments in different boutiques, and is a vendor at Wool Festivals throughout the country. Valentina lives in Los Alamos, New Mexico.

Creative Knitting (V1)
Knit without a pattern! Learn to combine linear shapes such as rectangles, squares and stripes, and linear areas of color. After gaining confidence in your design capabilities, be prepared to go beyond the “lines” into the realm of irregularity. Explore circles, swirls, blotches and scrumbles, or wherever else your creative side takes you. Expect free-form results ranging from dramatic to simple, elegant to funky. Work on designing your own garment, and begin a project in class. Shed your fears about fiber, texture, and most of all . . . gauge! Saturday

Beyond Creative Knitting (V2)
In this class, the next step beyond Creative Knitting, Valentina guides you through free-form knitting, such as circles, swirls, scrumbles, and more. Discover how to create extraordinary and beautiful designs while using all those wonderful yarn snippets left over in your knitting basket. Learn to create eye-catching fashions using Valentina’s methods. Sunday morning
